DEVELOPMENT —

Multicultural communities lead community change.

Development supports multicultural leaders in the Teton region to locate their vision of success — from finding their voice, to sitting on the board leading our community in a space they are passionate about.

The pathway

Take it one step at a time, or keep going all the way to a board seat or elected.office.

STEP ONE

Lead Forward

A leadership entry program. Self-discovery, community and the tools to share your voice.

STEP TWO

NextLevel Leadership

Building on the basics. We get tactical and focus on concrete leadership skills — from finance to governance.

STEP ONE

Visionary Voices

Support stepping onto a real board or working group — with a stipend because leadership is work.

Lead Forward

A journey of self-discovery, development, and community building. You'll learn what it means to lead, and leave able to say your values out loud, lead with compassion, and change things where you live.

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE

Nine months, seven sessions, one cohort. You start with your own voice and values, pick up the communication tools to carry them, and learn to read the professional world instead of being read by it.

From there it gets practical together: supporting each other through hard things, working as a team when gossip and old dynamics push back, studying how movements before us actually won, and setting the boundaries and self-care that let you keep going.

WHO

All immigrants and multicultural community members. No previous training required.

WHEN

Nine months, every year. Meeting twice monthly for 2 hrs.

NextLevel Leadership

Advanced strategy and application. This is the year you get fluent in the machinery — budgets, governance, conflict — so the room stops being intimidating and starts being yours.

WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE

Five sessions that take you from understanding the system to working inside it. We start with where power and professional norms came from, then get comfortable with the money — budgets, statements, funding streams, risk — so board conversations stop happening over your head.

The rest is what it takes to stay: thriving at work without shrinking, handling conflict with clarity instead of avoidance, and backing up the people around you when microaggressions or tokenization show up.

WHO

Lead Forward graduates, or equivalent experience

WHEN

Five months. Runs in the years between Lead Forward cohorts. Twice monthly, 1.5–2 hours. Meeting twice monthly for 2 hrs.
